Rate Notebook is maintained by a small, independent group of network engineers.
We run our own test server and write our own measurement code, which lets us keep the whole service lean and predictable.
Our aim is modest: give anyone a clear, reliable reading of their connection in a few moments, without asking for anything in return.
Our principles
- Measure, then forget Results are shown to you and not stored on our side.
- Explain the method Every number on the page has a documented, plain-language explanation.
- Keep it light A small page means less interference with the measurement itself.
- Ask for nothing No accounts, no forms and no personal details, ever.
Why we built it
We often had to check connections for friends, family and colleagues, and kept running into tests cluttered with ads, sign-up prompts and tracking. The measurement itself was fine; everything around it was not.
So we wrote a small test of our own, put it on a dedicated server and made it public. It does the same job, quietly, and forgets the result once you leave.
